The Main Components Of The Concrete Batching Plant

The Host

The host is the core part of the concrete plant, responsible for mixing various raw materials. According to different working principles, there are various types of hosts, such as dual horizontal axis forced mixers, vertical axis planetary mixers, etc. The main components include mixing blades, mixing shafts, motors, etc.

The conveying system includes belt conveyor, crawler conveyor, screw conveyor, and conveying pump, responsible for conveying various types of raw materials to the mixer. A water pump is a device that transports liquid materials such as water and additives to the main mixer.

Belt Conveyor

Belt conveyors are widely used to transport various aggregates in concrete batch plant. It mainly consists of conveyor belts, drums, idlers, tensioning devices, and driving devices.

  • The conveyor belt is a load-bearing and traction component, supported by upper and lower rollers, bypassing the head and tail rollers to form a closed loop. With the help of the friction between the transmission rollers and the conveyor belt, the material is continuously transported.
  • The drum is divided into a transmission drum and a directional drum. The transmission drum is connected to the driving device and its function is to transmit force to the conveyor belt; The directional drum is used to change the running direction of the conveyor belt.
  • The function of the roller is to support the conveyor belt and the materials loaded on the conveyor belt.
  • The function of the tensioning device is to generate a certain pre tension inside the conveyor belt, prevent objects from sliding on the transmission drum, and control the deflection of the conveyor belt between the rollers to reduce resistance and avoid material scattering.

Hopper Elevator

The hopper elevator is another common aggregate conveying equipment in concrete mixing plants. Compared with belt conveyors, this type of conveying equipment has a more compact structure, occupies a smaller area, is more economical to use, and is more suitable for small and medium-sized mixing plants with low production requirements. The hopper elevator in the concrete mixing plant mainly consists of the following parts:

  • The lifting frame structure that carries and supports the bucket elevator, made of steel, with sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand the weight of materials and various forces during operation.
  • Drive device provides power to drive the operation of the hoist. Generally, an electric motor is used as the driving device, and power is transmitted to the working components of the hoist through transmission devices such as couplings and reducers.
  • Bucket elevator chain is a key component that connects the bucket and the pulley. It is composed of multiple chain links, each with a bucket installed on it, and the lifting and feeding of materials are achieved through the rotation of the sprocket.
  • Tensioning device maintain the appropriate tension of the hoist chain to ensure the normal operation of the chain during operation. It usually consists of a tensioning wheel, tensioner, etc.

Electric Control System

The electrical control system is used to control the circuit system of the entire batching machine. It includes components such as power switches, motor drivers, sensors, etc., used to control mechanical motion and detect and process signals.

Other Auxiliary Devices

Screw Conveyor

Screw conveyor is mainly responsible for conveying cement, fly ash and other powder materials. It is mainly composed of shell, spiral shaft, transmission device, spiral blades, feed and discharge ports, bearing seat and sealing device, etc.

  • The shell of a screw conveyor is usually made of welded steel plates, which have sufficient strength and stiffness. The main function of the casing is to fix and protect the internal components of the conveyor, ensuring the normal operation of the conveyor.
  • The spiral shaft is the core component of a screw conveyor, responsible for conveying materials from one end to the other. Spiral shafts are usually made of steel, and sometimes stainless steel materials. There are fixed spiral blades on the spiral shaft, which push the material forward through the rotation of the spiral blades.
  • The transmission device is the driving source of the screw conveyor, usually composed of an electric motor, reducer, and coupling. The electric motor transmits power to the spiral shaft through a reducer, causing it to rotate and push the material. The coupling is used to connect the electric motor and reducer, ensuring the normal operation of the transmission device.
  • The bearing seat is an important component that supports the spiral shaft, providing necessary support and rotation center for the spiral shaft. The bearing seats are usually fixed at both ends of the conveyor to ensure stable rotation of the screw shaft.
  • The sealing device is used to prevent material leakage during transportation, and is usually installed near the inlet and outlet to maintain the sealing of the conveyor.

Batching System

Equally important part is the aggregate batching system, which are responsible for the proportioning of various aggregate materials. It is the key to ensuring the quality of the final concrete product.

Meanwhile, the proportion of other materials is handled by their respective weighing sensors, which compare the collected actual data with the preset value. When the set value is reached, the feeding is stopped.

Pneumatic System

The pneumatic system in the concrete mixing plant is mainly used to provide compressed air for the mixing plant and drive pneumatic components (including cylinders, valves, and pneumatic horses). Finally, it will achieve various pneumatic functions, such as automatic material transportation and unloading. The pneumatic system mainly consists of the following parts.

  • Air compressor is the core component of pneumatic system, used to generate compressed air. An air compressor is usually driven by an electric motor, which compresses the air and delivers it to a storage tank.
  • Air storage tank is used to store compressed air for supplying pneumatic components. The air storage tank has a certain capacity to ensure that the mixing plant can continue to operate for a period of time even when the air compressor is shut down.
  • The filter is used to remove moisture, dust, and other impurities from compressed air, ensuring the normal operation of pneumatic components and extending their service life.
  • Pressure reducing and regulating valves. These valves are used to regulate the pressure and flow of compressed air to meet the working requirements of pneumatic components. The pressure reducing valve can reduce the high-pressure compressed air in the storage tank to the appropriate working pressure, while the pressure regulating valve can adjust the working pressure required by the pneumatic components in real time.
  • Pneumatic components include cylinders, valves, motors, etc. These components perform various actions by receiving compressed air to achieve automated control and process operations of the mixing plant.
  • The control system is used to monitor and control the operation of the entire pneumatic system. A control system usually consists of various sensors, controllers, and actuators, which can monitor the pressure, flow, and other parameters of the pneumatic system, and automatically adjust the pressure and flow to meet the requirements.
