How Does A Concrete Batching Plant Work

The concrete mixing plant conveys various raw materials to the mixer in a certain proportion and order, and mixes them together through the rotational motion of the mixer to form a concrete mixture. Specifically, the workflow of a concrete mixing plant includes the following steps.

Storage And Transportation of Raw Materials

The concrete batching plant needs to store various raw materials, such as cement, sand, stones, water, admixtures, etc., and transport them to the mixer as needed.

Aggregates are usually stored on the ground of the batching plant. When the plant starts working, they are loaded into the batching hoppers by loader truck. Then the weighed aggregates are conveyed by belt machine or skip-hopper hoist machine.

Water is stored in water tank and conveyed by the water pump. Admixture is stored in admixture tank and pumped into the mixer.

Batching The Ingredients Of Raw Materials

First of all, the concrete plant needs to add various raw materials to the mixer according to the preset proportion and order according to the engineering needs. In this process, various weighing devices are applied for getting the precise weight data of various materials. By this way, the ingredient ratios of concrete mixture are ensured accurately.

Then, mixers takes charge for various raw materials are rotated and mixed together. And by friction and impact, the raw materials are mixed evenly to form concrete.


Next, the mixed concrete is automatically discharged through the out port. Usually there is a concrete truck waiting beneath it. The out port switch is controlled by the pneumatic system receiving commandes from the electronic control system.

Generally speaking, the average time for mixing a batch of concrete, from weighing, conveying, to mixing and finally unloading, is about 60-90 seconds. The specific production cycle is related to many factors, and accurate time values need to be calculated based on actual situations.
